Ashkizar is a town located northwest of Yazd with a temperature tropical climate.

It is said that Ashkizar was built by a feudal lord named Ashkin Zal in Parthian Dynasty's era.

Also, Firouz-abad Majoumard, a district of Ashkizar is believed to have been built by king Firouz, a grandson of Bahram Gour, the famous Sassanid king.

Seeing the man-made forests around Ashkizar, one can see an example of Desert people's endeavor to fight back the quicksand the advancement of which would prevent urban development in the area.
