The city spreads over the area of 322,268 ha, within circumference of 419 km. The longest diameter is 92.78 km. The minimum altitude is 66m and the maximum is 628 m.
Belgrade and its surroundings have moderate continental climate, with the average annual temperature of 11.4 C. The coldest month is February (Average temperature -0.3C) and the hottest is July (22.5C). Dominant wind during winter period is "Kosava" (with strokes over 11 m/sec), while Northwestern winds prevail during the summer.
Belgrade is in Central European Time Zone, GMT +1 hour. From the end of March to the end of October, the time is GMT +2. When it is soon in Belgrade, it is 1pm in Athens, 11pm in London, 6am in New York and noon in Paris.

The monetary unit is Yugoslav Dinar. Bills are 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 Dinars. Coins are 50 Paras, 1 Dinar, 2 Dinars and 5 Dinars. One Dinar consists of 100 Paras.
