Subject: "Venice in Windows"

The exhibition will be shown at the Pavillon on the Freundschaftsinsel in Potsdam (11 June – 29 June 2008) and is organized by the Italian Cultural Institute of Berlin on the occasion of the Sanssouci Musikfestspiele.
The 40 photographs of the exhibition, selected from over a thousand photographs taken from 2004 to 2006, show a fleeting, elusive city, at once ideal and metaphysical. That is how Venice appears reflected in the panes of its own windows – both ephemeral and eternal. This is no double but a different Venice, an imaginary Venice. Its changing forms and colors are multiplied in unexpected perspectives and astonishing juxtapositions. The tangible is combined pictorially with the abstract. Domes, trees, bell towers, columns, clouds, statues, and chimneys are momentarily caught, in more or less distorted forms, framed by the windows of houses and palaces.
The works in the exhibition are shown in pairs. Each pair has a specific feature shared by the two images.
The lines of verse accompanying the photographs are all dedicated to the theme of the mirror and are taken from the Persian divan of Mirzâ Abdolqâder Bidel (1644-1720), a poet, philosopher and mystic who lived in India and is one of the truly great writers in Persian literature.
The exhibition is a sort of invitation to visit the town in a different way and an example of how to show the close relationship between the artistic activities of two great cultures.
The material in the exhibition has been published in Riccardo Zipoli, Venezia alle finestre, Marsilio, Venice, 2006.
The exhibition was shown at the Real Academia de España in Rome (19 December 2006 – 18 January 2007), at Ca’ Foscari University in Venice (15 May – 15 June 2007), at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tehran (19 February – 19 April 2008) and will be shown at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris in the Summer 2009.

"While studying Computer Science at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver and getting his masters degree, Masoud Harati has also been working on different forms of art including photography. To prepare a book about his motherland Iran, and show a positive image of it, he has been traveling in Iran in the past few months and you can see some of these photos alongside with some other photos from Canada, United States and England in this exhibition."

Riccardo Zipoli, Italian member of CPC, has a photography exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in Tehran. It consists of 40 color and B&W photos (Color slides 24x36 mm: Kodak Professional Elite Chrome 200 ISO) taken by Nikon FM2, Lens Nikkor 135 mm, 2004-6.

Riccardo Zipoli was born in Prato in 1952. Since 1975 he has taught Persian language and literature at Ca’ Foscari University, Venice. The author of numerous publications, he has mainly dealt with historical and stylistic problems in Persian literature. He began taking photographs in 1972. The first shows of his works were held in the Institute of Contemporary Arts, London (1976), and Il Diaframma, Milan (1977). Since then his photographs have been widely shown and published in Italy and abroad. In 1978 he graduated with a diploma in film direction and direction of photography from the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia, Rome.

Maryam has taken his photos by a Canon T60 film camera, with zoom 35-70 and Tele 135. She has 5 color photos, which was take in Iran and India in 2001, 2003 and 2005. All her photos are hand printed. Shahin has taken his 6 slides by Hasselblad and printed them digitally.

Sahar Seyedi and Malakeh Mir Pouya, members of CPC, CAPA, PSA & IFPO, have taken part in a co-exhibition at Atbin Gallery in Tehran.
Sahar has taken her photos with Nikon CoolPix E880 in Tehran on two subjects: "Water" and "Abstract", each 8 photos; she had 16 digital photos in this exhibition, all are taken in 2007.
Malakeh had 2 digital photos (by FujiFilm S9600), taken in Armenia, 2007. Five other her photos are taken by Zenith and Canon EOS 300, film cameras, in Iran and Saint Petersburg, 2007. Theme of her photos are all "Nature".
