"Caroun Photo Club" (CPC) is going to hold the "5th CPC Annual Photography Salon 2011", at North Vancouver, Canada. This Competition is open to the individual photographers in Canada and worldwide (International), Professional and Amateur photographers! 5th CPC Annual Photography Competition/Exhibition 2011 is completely different. The competition will be held in two parts, and each part has its own rules and prizes: 1- The First Part is on FaceBook. It’s open to public and anybody could take part. Photos will be judged by the visitors. Winners are the participants, who have the higher LIKEs. 2- Second part is as previous competitions. CPC members could take part. People, who have taken part in the First Part, and other interested people need to register for CPC membership to participate in this part. Photos will be judged by a jury of three photographers, selected by Caroun Photo Club. This judgment is final! Anybody could take part in each section or in both sections. Both sections have winners, but big prizes belongs the people, who have taken part in both two parts. 3- All the participants in both parts need to send a file of all their renamed photos by one email to: CPC2011 (at) Caroun (dot) com. Photos should be max 1024x768 pixels as mentioned in the Guidelines. Make a high resolution edited photo at the same time too, as winners and selected photos will be published. CPC will have the right to publish photos anywhere in any form (magazines, bulletins, Internet, slide show…), but the copyright remains for the photographer. A slide show will be made with these photos. All the photos MUST have a “Title”. “No-Title” photos are not accepted. Photos of previous CPC competitions are not accepted too. Slides, Negatives or Digitals (Black & White or Color) are accepted. Each Photographer could send maximum 4 photos. Each group could send max 10 photos in each part. Photos could not be changed. Subject of the competition is “Photographic Art”, and the theme is almost OPEN. Photos including the following TOPICS are accepted: Wildlife / Nature / Pictorial / Portrait / Architectural / Still Life / Abstract / Sport / Travel / Close-up… Following subjects are not accepted: Religious / Political / Photojournalism / Family Photos An exhibition of all the Photos will be held at “Caroun Art Gallery” in Vancouver, Canada. Participants should register for the gallery at the same time of taking part in the competition. A permanent virtual exhibition will be posted at CAC/CAG websites. All the participants need to do as mentioned in this announcement. CPC will monitor the competition on FaceBook and during the second round. All the participants, who did anything out of the rules, will be cancelled from the competition, without any notice, even if he/she is among winners. A permanent gallery of the winners and selected works will be posted on CPC website. A permanent gallery of the exhibited photos at Caroun Art Gallery (CAG) will be posted on CAG website. This announcement will have changes before the judgment, without any announcement. Participant could check it on CPC website themselves. Round 1: People’s Choice Award This part will be held on FaceBook (CPC) and is open to public. Anybody could take part with his/her photo. If you do not have a portfolio on facebook, you can set it up at FaceBook.com. 1- All the Participants MUST LIKE “Caroun Art Gallery” on FaceBook, FIRST; then, you could ask to join Caroun Photo Club Group on FaceBook. 2- Participants could upload 4 photos (groups 10 photos) at Caroun Photo Club on FaceBook. Photos could be changed or replaced at any time before the deadline. Name of the photographer, and “TITLE” of the photo could be mentioned on or under each photo. It’s better to write your name and title on the photo, while you’re changing your photo to a 1024x768 pixel photo with PhotoShop: bottom left or right. 3- Do not TAG your photo! Tagged photos, and its photographer will be removed from the competition without any announcement, even they will be winners! 4- Visitors could announce their vote by a LIKE on each photo. Photos with higher number of LIKEs will be winners. For voting, “Visitors”: 4-1- MUST LIKE “Caroun Art Gallery” FaceBook, FIRST, otherwise their vote will be removed! 4-2- Join Caroun Photo Club Group on facebook 4-3- Vote! 5- We are going to have an active space on FaceBook. Visitors could critic photos by posting a text under it. These comments are not accepted! Do not use: good, great, I like it, It’s beautiful… Let’s have deeper look on the photo. You can write on the techniques and ideas of the photo. Following ideas are accepted: 1- Exposure 2- Contrast 3- Colors 4- Focus 5- Depth of field 6- Simplicity / busy / Quality 7- Negative space of the photo and its effect 8- Lines and curves of the photo 9- Perspective 10- Creative Techniques 11- Composition 12- Subject of the photo 13- Message of the photo as well as any other creative ideas. We’re going for a POSITIVE STYLE of EVALUATION! Be creative & serious, please! 6- Photographer, who has posted his photo for the competition, MUST not LIKE or critic his/her photo. He/she could critic and LIKE other photos of the competition. 7- Deadline: Voting (LIKing) will be terminated in September 1, 2011, 12 am, Pacific time (Auguat 31, 2010, 12 pm for Europe and Asia). The votes will be calculated and the three winner photos (belongs to 3 photographers), and 10 selected works (belongs to 10 photographers) will be announced. Anybody could win just one prize! An exhibition of the winners and selected works will be held at Caroun Art Gallery (CAG) in December 2011. Photographers of winners and selected photos CAN take part in the exhibition. Other photographers could send their photos to be approved for the exhibition. Anybody could take part as well as groups, clubs and associations, as following: 1- Groups, clubs and associations could send max 10 photos of 10 photographers. 2- Individual photographers could send 4 photos. Photographer, whose photo is send as the above (1), could not take part as individual. Photos should be sent in September 2011: max width 1024 pixels, max height 768 pixels, and renamed as mentioned in the guidelines. Send your photos by email to CPC2011 (at) Caroun (dot) com. You cannot change your works as you sent it. Deadline: September 30, 2011, Pacific time (Sept 29, 2011 for Europe and Asia) 3- The application of the competition should be filled out and send for each photo separately. These should be sent by email with photos. 4- One "Artist’s Waiver Form" should be filled out for each photographer and send by the same email. 5- Photos will be judged by a jury of 3 photographers, selected by CPC, and the result will be announced in October 2011. The announcement will be final. Participants could attend the judgment. Prizes: WINNERS: First Winner:- CAPA Gold Medal (Canadian Association for Photographic Art) - CPC Certificate - An individual photography exhibition at Caroun Art Gallery (just gallery fee) in Summer 2012 for two weeks; application should be filled out by the winner and sent to CPC in November 2014. Second Winner: - CPC Silver Medal (Caroun Photo Club) - CPC Certificate - Participating in a group photography exhibition at Caroun Art Gallery (just gallery fee) in 2015; application should be filled out by the winner and sent to CPC in November 2012. It is posted on CAG website. Third Winner: - CPC Bronze Medal - CPC Certificate - One year CPC membership; the winner should filled out the membership application. SELECTED WORKS Ten selected works belongs to 10 photographers will receive “CPC Honorable Mention”.Prizes will be given to the winners and selected works after the exhibition. Each participant could earn JUST one medal! Costs of the Competition: Participants in the second round need to pay a fee as following: 7-1- Photographers, who were a member of CPC before 2011, and have taken part in Round One of the competition: $10 7-2- Photographers, who were a member of CPC before 2011, and did not take part in Round One of the competition: $15 7-3- Photographers, who have taken part in Round One (non-members) of the competition: $15 7-4- Other photographers: $20 7-5- Groups, clubs and associations: $25 The fee should be sent along with photos; it could be paid cash, by cheque (payable to “Caroun Photo Club”) or by PayPal on CPC website. There are some facilities for payments in Middle East too. HST will be added to the payments in Canada. 7-6- Participants (group & individual) in Round 2 MUST be a CAPA or CPC member. Photographers, who were not a member of CAPA or CPC before 2011, should register for CPC membership before sending their photos in Round 2. Exhibition: A group exhibitions of all photos will be held at Caroun Art Gallery, at North Vancouver, Canada, in December 2011 for two weeks. The application is posted on CAG website, and should be filled out and sent along with the photos.CPC has no responsibility for the lost or damaged works. Participants in the exhibition could remove their works themselves at the last day of the exhibition, or send enough money along with their photos for the returning mailing costs.
