In the title the word 'knocking' is a verb.
Should be a door knocker. In this image it is a lovely antique piece on an old door.
The image represents a historic artifact.

Doorknocker has some good potential visual interest, although image as presented leaves the viewer with a question of why this (presumably in camera) crop was chosen. There is room at the top of image to show more of the interesting knocker. The line separating the door and doorjamb, adds more interest.
Good initial camera exposure to deal with the complimentary colors, however final image could benefit from a mid tone adjustment (slightly darker) to improve the color contrast.
A simple subject can be an excellent choice to photograph. The question is “how can the image-maker make it more compelling to a viewer?”

Good exposure. Nice even light. The black vertical line on the right adds interest and energy to the image.
