Excellent detail in the man’s face and hat, and you’ve maintained nice catch-lights in his eyes. Background is nicely out of focus, although the vertical lines are still a distraction.

Making a good connection to this subject makes this image more personal and interesting. The background is a momentary curiosity and does not impact the subject in any significant way.
The eyes of the subject are partly in shadow, and could be easily brought up in post processing. As an option, you could reframe the subject and remove part of the right side of the image, and see how you feel about a squarer format.

Portrait of a farmer---well caught, well lit----beautiful skin detail----the viewer is left wishing to see more of the body----maybe more of a full length portrait would have suited this image. |
