Very nice lines and composition. Good lighting and colour. For better effect, this image should substantially more depth of field.

An interesting twist on floral macros, the maker of this image takes us under the flower to see the complexity below. As is to be expected in single shot macros, most of the image is in soft focus.
The challenge here is to find some way to give us a sense implied in the title. Tonality tells us the flower is at the end of its life, so in this sense the message is delivered.

The viewers eyes tend to wander around in this image---there is not clear intent on where or what we are to focus on. Perhaps focusing on the base of the stalk as it enters the pumpkin would have given us something to direct our attention on. However, exposure is well handled and there is lovely tonality in the image. |
