He studied piano, and his real photography camera was given to him by his rich cousin, Kodak Speed Graphic Camera, in 1912.

1930 He decided to choose photography as his job.
1932 cooperated to establish "F/16" photography group
1930s An essay in "Modern Photography" magazine
"Making a photography" book, for "How to do it" collection
1934-1971  Director of "Sierra Center"
1942 Established "Photography/Art" section in "New York Modern Art Museum"
1945 Working on five volumes collection of books "Basis of Photography"
