1865:
Jan. 7-14, Marx stays with Engels in Manchester. They discuss questions related to International Working Men's Association and the working-class movement in Germany.

February, Engels pamphlet, "The Ministry Question in Prussia and German Workers' Party", appears in Hamburg.


1866:
End of Jan.-April 6, Engels works on a series articles on Polish question directed against Proudhonists, who ignore the national question. He sets forth the relationship of proletariat to the national liberation movement of oppressed people. The articles entitled "What Have Working Classes to Do with Poland?", are printed in International's newspaper, "Commonwealth".

May 1, in a letter to Marx, Engels writes about British employers' importation of German Workers to Edinburgh as strikebreakers. He asks the General Council to intervene and prevent a new group of German workers coming to England.

May 4, in the name of "General Council", Marx warns German workers against British employers' attempt to recruit them as strikebreakers. The address appears in a number of German newspapers under the title "A Warning".

Sept. 3-8, Geneva Congress of International Working Men's Association approves its Rules based on Provisional Rules written by Marx.


1867:
April 2, Marx informs Engels that he has finished his work on "Volume I of Capital" and intends to take the manuscript to the Hamburg publisher.

April 4, in a letter to Marx, Engels congratulates him on the completion of volume one of "Capital" and sends him money for the trip to Hamburg.

June, Engels studies the latest discoveries in chemistry.

July 5, Engels sets out for Sweden, Denmark and Germany. In Hanover, he visits Ludwig Kugelmann.

Sept. 2-8, Lausanne Congress of International Working Men's Association

Sept. 14, the first volune of Marx' main economic work, "Capital", comes off the presses.

Oct. 12 1867-June 1868, Engels writes a number of reviews of Marx' Capital to propagate its ideas among the public at large. The reviews appear in liberal bourgeois and in workers' newspapers.


1868:
April, Engels makes a synopsis of volume one of "Capital".

Sept. 6-13, Brussels Congress of International Working Men's Association

Sept. 19 to Oct. 12, in letters to each other, Marx and Engels discuss developments in the working-class movement in Germany.

Dec. 18, At Marx' request, Engels sends him his critical remarks on the policy documents of Alliance of Socialist Democracy and opposes its admission to International.
