Morteza Khan Ali, the Iranian Cartoonist, was born in Iran in 1946. He was the third child, and the only son of the family. Since his teen ages, he was interested in painting, reading newspapers, watching movies and script writing.

In 1963, he participated in the cartoon contest, hold by "Towfigh Magazine, and won the first prize; this was how he started working in "Towfigh Magazine", and later, he became a member of editorial committee. Afterward, he became the head of communication (1968) department. Morteza Khan Ali became the editor assistant (19720, and the editor (1974) of Towfigh. He continued his work as the editor until the magazine was closed by the government in 1976.

He studied interior design at the University of Elm O Sanat and graduated in 1976. He began his artistic activities with Rahni Bank (communication department), IzIran, Abrar and HamShahri newspapers. He worked as animator and director in Iran National TV (1976-94). During this time, he made 15 short films for adults and children.

Morteza was the honored member of editorial committee of different magazines (1976-94), Fajr-e Khaz, Ofogh, Hejrat, Ayeneh, Emad, Iranm Honar, Abr, Nedaye Ghumess, Nehzate Shomal, Manshoor-e Baradari, Koodak O Nojavan, and his works were published in different magazines and newspapers.

Khan Ali, along with few other persons, published "Molavan Magazine" (1992-95). He started his international activities with European "Vitray Magazine" and his cartoons were published in Europe and United States. In 1993, he's participated in Sweden Festival and acknowledged. He moved to United States and began his work with Hosein Towfigh in 1994.

Morteza worked with "Humor Magazine", a political-social magazine, and became a member of editorial committee (1994-95). In Atlanta, he published "Laaf Magazine" for two years. Khan Ali immigrated to Canada in 1999 and resided in Vancouver. There he worked with "Farhang Magazine" and also he publishe "Laaf dar Ghorbat Magazine". Morteza KhanAli did the writing, cartoons as well as publishing it by himself.

Kambiz Derambakhsh (Iran), Bahman Ebadi (Iran), Hosein Towfigh (USA) and Haghighi (USA) were his closed friends and colleagues.

He married twice (1976 & 1992), a daughter, Hedyeh, from the first wife (Nasrin Kalantari), and a son, Mohammad Ali from his second wife, Mahtab Karimi.

In his last 4-5 years, because of his handshake, he coulds not work as before. in 2013, Morteza Khan Ali had a heart attack and passed away at Lions Gate Hospital, North Vancouver, Canada, at the age of 67.

In memory of the artistic and social activities of this great artist, Caroun Art Gallery (CAG) has held and exhibition of his cartoons and magazines, September 17-27, 2013 at North Vancouver. The reception was held on September 21, 4-9 pm.
Caroun Art Gallery acknowledges Farhang Bc Magazine (Bahman Doustdar), Saeid Momany, Iraj Roshani, Zahra Darvishian and Mahtab Karimi, who contributed their time and efforts to run the exhibition.
