Antonio Lorenzo
Painter
Spain
|
Born in Madrid, 1922
He has studied in Fine Arts School in Madrid.
Prior to 1956, the year in which he first experimented with abstract painting, he was closely allied to representation, even long after he had surpassed the natural academicism of his student days.
During this phase he busied himself with execution of murals and portraits. It was through the gate of non-formalism that Lorenzo gained access to “abstract” world, although for his, this tendency meant a method more than an aim in itself.
After an introductory phase of “tenebrist” re-creation, he has begun another, more pictorial phase, involving huge masses of color defined by a surrounding space.
