Afshan Shoaib is a socio-political being and is intensely involved in global issues such as color discrimination, nuclear holocaust, environment, and political chaos. Born in Peshawar, she is now settled in London. She holds a diploma in arts and Design from the Institute of Arts and Crafts, Karachi, and a diploma in Computer Graphics from London city Polytechnic and has earned a diploma in Arts and Design from Goldsmith College, University of London.

Afshan’s powerful of images of human conflict portray her inner feelings of despair for these innocent people who have suffered the consequences of futile wars.

Her paintings vividly describe the inhumanity of man against man and his own environment. Each painting depicts a different kind of degradation, instigated man, leading to the destruction of human and natural resources.

This is the painter’s way of expressing her condemnation of what is happening in the world. She hopes that, through her images, others will also be able to comprehend the need to acknowledge our self-destruction and recognize the immediate need to act against this self-violation.
