Eduardo Chillida
Painter
Spain

Born in San Sebastian, 1926

Trained spontaneously and on his own account, in contact with his sculptor brother Eduardo Chillida.

Landscape was the predominant theme in his figurative painting. Vast barren wastes, immense plains… he treated them all with the same delicate sense of the subtle shades of color.

Such was the importance that he gave to this distinction in chromatic values that it became the main characteristic of his work. Although his work continues to be tied to scenic feathers, landscape is the pretext rather than the end.

His next paintings seems to be abstract, but this impression derives above all from the fact that the landscape in his canvases is “abstracted”.
