I am a life-long photographer, who started taking pictures when a young child, using a box “Brownie”. I have now graduated to digital cameras and more than a few lenses. Although I love to take pictures of people and places that are important to me, my main focus is on the artistic portrayal of birds, flowers and animals.
I am a member of the North Shore Photographic Society and have been the print chairman for the past five years. I am also an individual member of CAPA (Canadian Association of Photographic Arts), chair the greeting card and post card competitions, as well hold the position of Exhibition Standards Chairman. In order to upgrade my skills as a photographer, I attend workshops and courses throughout each year.
Over the past years, I have won awards in CAPA national competitions, both as an individual and as part of our club submissions. I also display and sell prints as part of the North Shore Photographic Society exhibit during the Harmony Arts Festival in West Vancouver, and have had images on display at the Centennial Theatre in North Vancouver. In addition, some of my images are on display at Foremed Medical Clinic in North Vancouver. I make and sell fine art prints, calendars and cards.
Personally, I was born and raised in Vancouver but have lived in North Vancouver for over 40 years.
My Photographic Vision:
I am continually awestruck by the beauty and diversity in nature that I see all around me. The intensity of colours found in the lower mainland inspire me to photograph local flowers, birds, wildlife as well as buildings and street scenes.
Although I have travelled to Europe, Australia and Africa, I find that I find my love of the flora and fauna found in the Canadian West gives me most of my inspiration and I want to share this beauty with others.
