Previously, numbers of designs have been limited in Garous rug. Rotating designs have been seen only in rugs ordered by "Khans" (Chiefs of tribes).
At that time, there were no expert designers in the region and usually one of native people draw these designs.
In past, designs belonged to a particular village; so, when a design became fashionable in a village, all of the inhabitants used only this design.
To make villagers familiar with a new design, they wove the repeated part on a piece of rug, in size of a doormat, called "Vaguireh" and gave it to weavers.
Sometimes a woven rug had become model and during the weaving procedure, motifs were displaced in weaver's taste and some new motifs were added; colors, also, changed and used in weaver's taste.
