Afshar tribe is originally Turk, but later its members have married native people of Kerman. Like many of other Afshar tribes' woven, their rug designs contain also geometrical (broken) designs, which had not noticeable changes during years. Combination of these designs and designs of Kerman have created new designs.

Like most tribal carpets, Afshar rug's weaving is also single-weft, but its images are very different from geometrical images of Caucasian, Azerbaijan and Qashqai of Fars.
