Brown is a hard to get color, because most of brown colors change after a while in the course of time, becoming a garish neuter color.

Dark brown applied in old Qashqai carpets, similar to violet, is produced from walnut tree bark, green walnut shell, harrow of oak and alum.

Qashqai weavers don't need much brown color, as there are many brown wool sheep at their disposal.

Wool could be sheared and alum-washed, stead of dyeing. This color is more stables and also an attractive layered color.
