Carpet weaving in Tabriz has long precedent, but since 17th century DC., by the beginning of Iran carpet export to other parts of world, specially Europe, people involving in carpet industry in Tabriz, have also started weaving rugs, regarding the taste of new European and American customers.

Just like the other social movements in Iran, that Tabriz population has been the pioneer, in rising carpet weaving, also had a great role; so that the regained flourish of declining weaving, at the end of Qajar era and beginning of Pahlavi period, its entering to the world markets and spreading in all regions of Iran, was only the result of intelligence and keenness of merchants and weavers of this region.
